Tropea is a city of 6.843 inhabitants of the province of Vibo Valentia, between smallest city of Italy for territorial surface.

Famous sea locality on mar Tyrrhenian to the south-west of Vibo Valentia and north of "Capo Vaticano", has a church of Franciscans of remarkable importance and the Norman Cathedral of 1100. Of remarkable interest the historical center, with the historical palaces of the ' 700 and the ' 800 on the cliff in front of beach. Interesting are the "doors" of the palaces that represented the noble families, some are equipped of large reserviors dug in the cliff, that they served in order to accumulate the coming from grain from the Poro Mount, and subsequently came loaded through lead with earthenware on the ships that were moored under the cliff of Tropea. To visit moreover the private museum of the ancient trades of Calabria and of it blots some automatic.

The storees of Tropea sell many typical handicraft of the near city, between which the red onion, the nduja of Spilinga, the cheese Pecorino of the Poro, the oil extravergine of olive and wines. Important are also the local handicraft, like earthenware.

Tropea is equipped of a tourist port of recent construction, from where is possible to reach the near Aeolian Islands in particular the Stromboli volcano, nearly always visible from the calabrian coast t.
